What is a Dharmapreneur?!

Before delving into the essence of how I define a Dharmapreneur let me provide a personal definition of a Spiritual Entrepreneur.

A spiritual entrepreneur is someone that uses their resources and talents in the pursuit of helping others succeed while simultaneously achieving personal success. Their businesses are built on principles of high ethical and moral responsibility to themselves, their employees and clients and the environment; they are not solely driven by profit margins. The ability to make a difference in the lives of others is at the top of their list of daily “To Dos”.

A Dharmapreneur can thus be described as a spiritual entrepreneur that utilizes the Dharma – the teachings of the Buddha – as their foundation for building relationships and conducting business activities. Do you have to be a Buddhist (or [Insert any faith/religion here]) to be a Dharmapreneur? No. All that is required is the desire to develop a business that is ethically and morally sound and places the relationship with people and the environment above the need for making profits. That doesn’t mean that you don’t want to make money with your venture. It means that you are not willing to sacrifice your ethical values just to make a quick buck.

I decided to use the term Dharmapreneur simply because it is more in tune with my entrepreneurial activities and goals. I have found that my purpose is to help others achieve success using the teachings of Buddha to guide me. Hopefully this answers any questions about where I came up with the name. If not, feel free to use the contact page or email me directly at dharmapreneur@gmail.com and I’ll do my best to answer any questions you may have. As always, thanks for reading!
